The roles

Program Associate

A full-time field role leading reading, discussion, and writing sessions with secondary students across Selangor.
Full-time · 15 Jun 2026 – 28 Feb 2027

About the role

The Program Associate is a full-time field role at the heart of the programme's delivery. Associates are embedded in a network of secondary schools across Selangor, visiting assigned schools on weekdays to lead structured intellectual sessions, guide students through a writing development process, and build the consistent, trust-based relationships that make sustained learning possible. It's designed for early-career graduates who are intellectually curious, disciplined, and motivated to contribute to youth development — and who want to grow as practitioners and writers over the programme year.

What you'll do

  • Visit four assigned schools on a rotating weekday schedule, leading reading and discussion sessions with a group of students at each.
  • Read all five programme texts in full and act as a reading guide — giving context and helping students navigate complex material.
  • Deliver a structured writing programme across multiple cycles: issue prompts, support drafting, and submit detailed written feedback on the platform.
  • Identify the strongest student pieces each cycle and nominate them for further coaching by the programme's writing specialists.
  • Attend a year-long series of sessions with distinguished Malaysian leaders and thinkers, and bring that learning back to students.
  • Produce your own written pieces in Bahasa Melayu or English, supported by the programme's writing coaches.
  • Log all sessions, attendance, and student feedback accurately on the programme platform.

What we're looking for

  • Strong command of both Bahasa Melayu and English — spoken and written — and comfort facilitating and giving feedback in either.
  • Confident leading group discussions with secondary students; patient and consistent in building trust.
  • Genuinely curious — reads widely, engages seriously with ideas, and is honest about what they don't yet know.
  • Disciplined, self-directed, organised and reliable across multiple schools without day-to-day supervision.
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline. Fresh graduates and those early in their careers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Salary & benefits

  • RM 2,400 / month
  • EPF · SOCSO · EIS
  • Data allowance RM35/month · Meal allowance RM15/day
  • School travel covered (mileage + toll)

Transport

Valid Malaysian driving licence (P or full) and own or access to a vehicle required — you'll travel to assigned schools across Selangor.

Commitment

Full-time for the duration of the programme: 15 June 2026 – 28 February 2027.
